Good Spring Break

I hope you all had a great Spring Break. My husband and I went to Canada. He had meetings in Calgary and Saskatoon. We had never been to those parts of Canada so it was really neat to visit. While in Saskatoon there was a HUGE blizzard and the roads were shut down so we had to stay an extra day. (We drove but the airport was also closed so it wouldn't have mattered even if we had taken a plane.) At least we were in a nice warm hotel....although the wind was blowing so hard it was howling through the windows. Thankfully, I had already planned to take Monday off so getting home a day late was fine.

This week we are studying clocks in math. In kindergarten the students only have to know that analog (regular) clocks, digital clocks, and calendars measure time, but we have also been practicing recognizing and reading the o'clocks. (Such as, 9:00, 3:00, 12:00, etc.) This will help them when they get to first grade.

We aren't having vocabulary this week. Instead we had a handwriting fluency test today (which we practiced yesterday for). Our AM classmate who broke her right arm last weekend did an amazing job writing with her left arm! I am so proud of her! On Friday we have the DIBELS reading test. If at all possible, please have your child come on time on Friday well rested and fed. This will really help since this is our last DIBELS test for this year.

In Phonics we are doing "th." We have been practicing this with our flash cards and in Reading Mastery for a long time now so they are pretty good with it.

Tomorrow is already Thursday! I hope you are having a wonderful week! It has been a fantastic week at school although I am VERY tired from traveling last week (plus I gained 5 pounds from all the restaurant food! What a pain!)
