Thank you for coming to conferences! It is always fun talking with all of you about your wonderful children!
This week in math we are continuing working on numbers 0-5. We will be adding 6 this week. From there we will do 7, 8, 9, and 10. It is exciting to get through so much so quickly!
In Phonics we are working on our new vowel "a." On Friday we will start on our consonant "n." This will allow your child to read a whole bunch of new words! Be sure you are having your child practice reading the words on the homework and the phonics pages. Have your child sound out a word the slow way first and then the fast way (unless he/she can read it the fast way the first time). Singing the sounds during the slow sounding out time helps him/her to know what the word is the fast way. For example, have your child sing "hhhhhhooooooggggggg" and then say "hog" quickly. Some sounds are quick sounds and have to be said sung quickly. For example, /t/ as in "tooooooopppppppp top."
Upcoming things to remember:
1. This Friday is a regular Friday schedule.
2. Next week is UEA so everyone has Thursday and Friday, October 20th and 21st off.
3. The next super short Friday schedule is October 28th. I have some Halloween math, writing, and reading activities planned for this day and Monday.
4. We (students or adults) can NOT wear costumes for Halloween to school. This is a school rule.
5. Please remember that we are a nut-free school. We wish to keep all of our students free from danger. Thank you for your help in this.
