First Week

Wow! I bet your children were tired after such a HOT first week! I know I was, but am excited to begin a new week tomorrow!

In our first week we learned a lot of rules and expectations. You have great children as they are learning all of this quite quickly!

In Phonics we learned that the alphabet has 26 letters and there are two kinds of letters, vowels and consonants. We learned that the vowels are a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y. The letter we practiced was l. We learned the capital L and the lower-case l and that they are consonants. On Friday we started practicing O, o and learned that it is a vowel. We will continue with this until next Friday when we will learn the G, g and that it is a consonant. In learning to write the o and g we are learning about "clock" letters. These are the letters that we start writing on "2 on the clock," go up and around to form.

We haven't done a lot with math yet but have started practicing the correct formation of the numbers 1 and 2 (We always start at the top to make them.). This coming week we will continue to practice these two numbers plus talk about sorting objects.

We started our Reading Mastery reading last week with the letters a and m. This week we are being tested for our ERI Reading and hope to start it as soon as we have all the kindergarten students tested.

This week will be another week packed full of things to learn! I am hopeful that it won't be quite as hot!
