Just a few grains.....

This blog is mostly for the parents of my students, although there might be some good (at least I hope they are good) ideas for any parent of a child in kindergarten.

One of the things we are working on in math is ordinal numbers. Our kindergarten children need to know first through tenth by the end of the year. Right now we are working on first through fifth. It would be helpful if you could use ordinal numbers as you chat with your child (Which one do you like, the first, second, or third?). You can also give step directions (First I'd like you to.....second I'd like you to....and third I'd like you to....).

There are a couple of great vocabulary words we are working on that you can put into your conversations. We are working on the words "splendid" and "options" which could probably be used often.

Finally, (or third) your children are doing "splendidly" learning to read. Let them show off their new skills often.

I hope to have some fun game ideas in the future. Keep looking for new posts.
