Last Friday we had people from the district office come to watch the teachers teach math. On Thursday I told my classes that these important people were coming on Friday to watch us and that we needed to be on our best behavior. I told them that the people were important but they were NOT scary. We needed to just ignore them and go on with our work.
On Friday I found out that one of our little students ONLY heard the words "scary people" and missed the "NOT" part of that message! :-) The poor little thing was afraid to come to school because of the scary people. So, if any of your children thought scary people were coming to our school I just want you to know that they really were very NICE people who came! I didn't want anyone to be scared but it did make me chuckle at how easy it is to be misunderstood by a kindergarten student.
